Beroun surprised me

I’ve never been to Beroun or been interested in it. I have always imagined this city to be an oasisof Soviet Bloc buildings. But my husband, who is often working there, advised me to visit this place. I couldn't imagine it would be such a wonderfully cozy, charming, romantic city.
The weakest point is the train station. It has beautiful architecture, interesting decorative and mainly old elements, but it is not cared for. Everything is in desperate need of reconstruction.

On the contrary, the whole city is in a very good condition. You will mostly see renovated houses and lots of new buildings. There is also a whole new picturesque quarter overlooking the river.

I was also quite surprised that the city is quite busy, considering it has just 20,000 inhabitants. You can just feel how lively it is! Everyone’s walking their dogs or cycling, and there are lots of children outside.
The city is pretty large in territory. In the middle is a mountain with an observation tower from which you can enjoy a view of the whole city.(12 CZK).

I was also pleased with the countless bicycle boxes, with the people’s habit of walking their cats there, and with the rich variety of high-quality dishes and decoration for sale in the shops. What a very interesting and nice place to be!
